Ban Maelao School The primary school in the rural highlands of Chiang Mai. More than 50 percent of the students are Karen kids. The school has an internet network and computers for the students. The telephone system is by satellite network. |

Name: Ban Maelao School Location: Maelao Village, Tambon Papae, Amphoe Maetaeng, Chiang Mai, Thailand. Elevation: 700 meters above the means sea level. How to get to the school: from Mae Malai intersection on 107 road. Turn left on the road No. 1095 to Pai at the kilometer mark 43th you will arrive the school. It is about 80 kms. northeast of Chiang Mai city. |

Maelao School is a primary
school. There are about 60 students and four teachers in 2005. Pangfan
nature camp is about 500 meter west of the school. The villagers and
the kids joined the PNOC to protect the forest and keep the village
clean. The villagers are aware of the environmental issues they have
to work together to save the nature. |
